The Common Misconception

There was once a boy named Abel,
Who was desperate for any kind of love.
He searched and yearned for a label,
Boyfriend, MU, fling– any of the above.

He had to realize however,
That there was no such thing as forever.
He never saw it coming,
That a girl would help him see,
He never needed to rush anything,
Everything and anything he could be.

The girl taught him patience,
He forced himself to wait.
From her natural and alluring decadence,
A barrier he had to create.

A mistake on his part, and hers in retrospect,
The silence between them, no one dared interject.
